Capri Court
2015

We stayed at the Capri Court in Rotura, New Zealand. This was a very simple motel that met our needs. There was a roll-in shower and the room was spacious for a large wheelchair. The room includes a small closet for luggage, local television,  kitchenette and table. The is heat provided by steam and a fan to provide cool air when it is hot. There is also 24 hour staff who live on-site.

The owners of the Capri Court also own a hotel next door. We did not go to the neighboring property to check it out, but were told it is fully accessible. Additionally, the owners of the hotel have a daughter who is a cancer survivor. Here photo is proudly shown as part of the street sign. So, we felt the suggestions we provided to improve the Capri Court for guests were taken seriously.

The bathroom was definately a tight fit for a power wheelchair. There was barely enough space for me to get past the sink to the toilet. Getting into and out of the bathroom required guidance from my caregiver.

The roll-in shower was excellent. There was a slight slope into the shower, which contained the water. A bench was provided, however it appeared to be very flimsy and we were afraid it would not hold my weight. Instead, I used the rented manual wheelchair within the shower for safety.

The room we stayed in included a whirlpool tub for those who can step into and out of the tub.

Coin based Laundry on site. (New Zealand currancy)

I would recommend this location.
