Celebrity Solstice
November 2015 - Australia & New Zealand Cruise
Concierge Class - Stateroom 1026
We enjoyed a spacious stateroom, however the shower area was small. I needed an additional family member that also went on the cruise to assist me and my care giver to transfer me onto the shower bench. The bathroom had an ADA toilet and access to the bathroom sink. There was a ramp onto the balcony which was great. Next time I will ask to remove some of the furniture so there is more room for me and my wheelchair. Within the room, there were not enough plugs to accommodate our two cell phones, laptop and tablet, C-PAP, and wheelchair charger. We had to be very conscious about scheduling use of the plugs and were very careful to ensure items were recharged throughout the day and evening.
We have been on Princess, Celebrity and Carnival cruise ships and enjoy Celebrity because their staff is very helpful to our needs. In addition, they have more modern looking interiors including automatic doors to the decks. A Celebrity Solstice-class ship or above provides an automatic door into and out of your accessible stateroom.
The entertainment and dining was great. Unfortunately, this cruise did not offer any accessible excursions so we planned our own activities at each port in addition to staying an extra week in Australia and New Zealand before and after the cruise. We spent over six months researching each port for accessible activities.
