Four Points by Sheraton - Darling Harbour, Sydney, Australia
October 30-November 2, 2015
We purchased a “land tour” package which preceded our cruise with Celebrity Cruise Lines. The Four Points by Sheraton was the hotel which was included in this package.
During our stay, the hotel was undergoing a massive renovation and a second tower was being built to accommodate significantly more guests. We were originally assigned a non-accessible Standard Room. After the first night, we were moved into what the hotel calls a “Premium Accessible Room.” Note, we did not get to see an accessible Standard Room.
The Premium Accessible Room consists of a living area, private bedroom and bathroom. It is very adequate for a wheelchair user and had one of the best roll-in showers we have ever seen! Additionally, the couch in the living area could be used as a fold-out bed.
It is impossible to comment on other areas of the hotel, such as lobby and other public areas, because of the renovation. The check-in lobby, dining room, walkways and paths for wheelchairs appeared to be temporary during our visit.
Upon returning home, I have been in contact with the hotel regarding accessible rooms. According to email correspondence, the new tower will have accessible rooms with roll-in showers in the following room categories: Standard Rooms, Premium Rooms and Suites. Both the renovations of the existing hotel and the construction of the new tower will be complete by September 2016.
