Located next to the Daintree Rainforest, estimated to be 135 million years old and a World Heritage Site, Hook-A-Barra allows both experienced and new fishers try at catching a Barramundi.
We were skeptical that this facility would be accessible but were pleasantly surprised. Much of the terrain at Hook-A-Barra is flat. Gravel provides good traction for power wheelchairs. Wheelchairs can roll right up to the edge of the pond for easy fishing.
Hook-A-Barra is not located near a major city so there is somewhat of a drive to this facility. The good news is that there is a very spacious unisex toilet for disabled guests to use. And the staff was extremely accommodating and made sure I enjoyed a wonderful experience.
