Huka Prawn Park allows guests to try to catch their own prawn with a fishing pole. If successful, guests can cook the prawn at a self cooking station. There is also a gourmet restaurant, self-guided tour and aquaculture rearing facility.

We began our adventure by taking the guided tour through the aquaculture facility.  The tour was accessible and our guide communicated clearly and took time to answer questions throughout.

After the guided tour we attempted to catch some prawns! This is done by using a pole, beef heart for bait and a lot of patience from guests. The path to the ponds is deep gravel. Some wheelchairs or scooters may have a hard time driving through the loose gravel. If guests do not have a lot of dexterity, a family member or caregiver will need to provide assistance with putting bait on the hook, casting, etc.

Since our prawn fishing experience proved unsuccessful, we enjoyed full plates of cooked prawns in the restaurant.  The outdoor self cooking station and toilets were not accessible, but the restaurant did provide accessible restrooms.
