Waitomo Caves

There are three separate cave experiences:  Waitomo Glowworm Cave, Aranui Cave and Ruakuri Cave.  Ruakuri Cave is the only one accessible to those in wheelchairs.  To enter the cave one much travel down an extensive spiral entrance which is truly spectacular!  The entire tour is on paved paths or on boardwalks and the engineering to construct this infrastructure is amazing! Ruakuri Cave is the longest guided underground tour in New Zealand and is a must-see on your travel experience!  And you will see glowworms on this tour!

There is a width requirement for those using wheelchairs.  When you book your tour by phone, ensure your wheelchair will meet these requirements.  I booked this tour 90 days in advance and staff was very accommodating to my needs upon arrival.  If you need help with planning or booking please refer to our consultation page.
